At Fox & Rose HQ we’ve been waiting with baited breath for some of London Fashion Week’s designers to grace the catwalk with lingerie inspired pieces. This year, Julien Macdonald did not disappoint. He unveiled his spring and summer collection for 2011 in London’s historic Banqueting House among a distinctly “Midsummer Night’s Dream” setting.
His breathtaking collection seemed to intentionally blur the boundaries between evening wear and boudoir attire as Macdonald used sheer fabrics, cutaways and extreme minidresses to give his models an ethereal sensuality.
Opening the show, the first models to grace the runway wore frilly, lacy outfits in cream and off white colors, with their hair pulled back. The collection was then catapulted into bursts of summer colour, with a yellow dress that resembled a baby doll nightgown – a garment that reminded us of Fifi Chachnil’s Spring/Summer collection and something you will be able to find on Fox & Rose in the near future.
Macdonald’s “daring display” appeared to be well received by all, with enthusiastic applause and fellow lingerie aficionado Elle Macpherson congratulating the collection. We hear on the grapevine that Jo Malone’s Rose fragrance was sprayed before the show began. A touch we particularly liked.
