Corinne Day

Realism, heroin chic, and ‘The Waif’ all terms associated with the late Corinne Day who sadly passed away this weekend.   Her collaboration with Kate Moss for British Vogue in the early nineties remains in our consciousness for its seemingly squalid setting and fragile child-like subject.   Detractors argued that it was paedophilic, claiming Moss looked like an underage junkie.  Yet Day just wanted to move away from the superficial ideals of beauty touted at the time.   Here are some of her images from a 1993 British Vogue lingerie editorial. What’s striking, apart from the chemistry between Day and Moss is how the shoot and lingerie looks so undated. That was nearly 20 years ago.
