Delving into Vogue’s catwalk report for Autumn/Winter 2010 revealed a very interesting trend to watch which fashion editors are calling New Restraint. The look combines “simplicity and luxury to elegant effect in new pared down chic”.
Think minimalist pieces in luxurious cashmeres and silks. Effortless and uncomplicated, these elegant shift dresses, trouser suits and simple jumpers are perfect for either disguising a racier more seductive look below or, depending on how they fit and contour the body, trying out some of the fabulous bras tailored to suit sheer or tight fits. CosaBella and Bodas basics immediately spring to mind – both would sit perfectly beneath the (under)statement dresses and trousers appearing on the catwalk from designers including Chloe (see above) and Calvin Klein.
Following the regimented style rules for a played down finish we’re advised not to over-accessorise the look, so if you’re thinking of trying minimal chic this autumn but need a touch of something slightly more glamourous to warm up the frosty Autumnal mornings, why not team your look with one of Fifi Chachnil’s 50’s inspired creations? Fox & Rose has picked some of her best for the season so watch out for the launch as we’re expecting these wonderfully contoured bras to sell like hot cakes!
